Douglas Sanford is Co-Chief Executive Officer of Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency and a principal (owner). He has been a full time employee of Sanford & Tatum since June of 1970. Douglas graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1970 and obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1985. He is a Certified Risk Manager. Douglas has been the lead agent or co-agent on accounts such as the City of Lubbock, Covenant Health System, Glass Control, Inc., Texas Tech University, Brandon & Clark and other complex accounts.
Douglas has been published in Rough Notes and Texas Insurance Journal magazines. He has also been a speaker at the National Association of Independent Insurers National Underwriting Conference addressing the topic “The Return to Traditional Underwriting”. Douglas is a Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas and is past Texas National Director of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. He has been a member of Texas Tech University Continuing Education Staff, teaching insurance principles for executive directors of non-profit organizations. In 2006, Douglas was awarded IIAT’s Drex Foreman Award which is the highest honor presented by IIAT.
Working with Senator Duncan, Douglas successfully petitioned for a change in the Charitable Immunity Act of Texas to allow the benefits of the act to reach more organizations. Douglas testified before Congressional Committees during this process.

Diannah Tatum joined Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency in 1978 and has mastered every function of the insurance agency business. Upon being named an Officer and Manager of Commercial Lines Operation in October 1985, she has been instrumental in the significant growth of the Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency. Diannah was promoted to her current position, Co-Chief Executive Officer, in January 2002. In addition to agency operations, she takes an active part in marketing the agency’s largest accounts.
Goal oriented, self-motivated and always seeking additional knowledge, Diannah has earned a Certificate of General Insurance from the Insurance Institute of America and the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. Diannah is a Licensed Risk Manager.
Diannah’s current functions include: Secretary/Treasurer for the Independent Insurance Agents of Lubbock, where she has also served on their Board of Directors; Independent Insurance Agents of Texas roles include Board Member, Chairperson for Certificates Task Force, Finance Committee member, Chairperson for the Agency Technology Task Force, and IMPACT Region 17 Vice President; Member of the CNA Insurance Pacer Committee; Master Agents Advisory Council for Texas Mutual Insurance; and Master Agent, Secretary/Treasurer for Texas Medical Group. Diannah’s previous roles include past memberships of the Producer’s Council with CFCI, Northbrook, CGU, Kemper-Personal Lines and Texas Mutual.
In November 2009, Diannah was recognized as a Spirit of Philanthropy Honoree and in January 2012, was presented the YWCA Women of Excellence in Business Award.

Kay Sanford began her insurance career in 1980, when joining Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency as Owner, Secretary/Treasurer and Public Relations. Kay supports the agency and employees through events involving the staff and their family.

Gerry Tatum has been involved with the insurance industry for many years, however, joined Sanford & Tatum Insurance Agency in 2009 as Owner and Public Relations. Gerry displays support at agency functions and encouragement to its employees and family members.
